God’s Plan for Redemption

This last week we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, enjoying the power and purpose of God for us through the redeeming work of His son. This week, we carry with us that spirit of celebration and excitement as we begin a new sermon series entitled, “God’s Eternal Purpose”. This sermon series will be a meditation on the work of the Father, through Jesus, to justify us and set us apart for His purposes. Through the Holy Spirit, we have not only been redeemed, forgiven, and justified, but we have been given a purpose to carry out in the world.

Dallas Willard, in his book The Divine Conspiracy, gives to us the plan and purpose of God for the creation and for us human beings. The message of the gospel shared with the world by the early church “came in the form of information and reality.” In other words, it mattered in reality. It had bearing in everyday life. The Apostle passes along this message of Jesus and his teaching to the Ephesians and to us to shape our lives and help us understand our place in God’s plan for redemption.

Grace & Peace,

Rev. Adam Thornton
