AFRICAN CHILDREN’S CHOIR DRIPPING SPRINGS CONCERT

The African Children’s Choir is coming to Dripping Springs on March 5th. We are so excited to be hosting the ACC during their tour through the USA!

The 2023 U.S. Just as I am tour will make 50+ stops across the country, including our beloved Dripping Springs, Texas.

These talented children are sure to melt the hearts of audiences with their performance of popular children’s music, traditional spiritual songs, and African cultural pieces. But, the tour is much more than a concert. The African Children’s Choir is composed of African children, aged 10 to 12 years old, all of who come from vulnerable backgrounds and have faced hardship and lack of education. However, they represent the potential of the African child to become leaders for a better future.

This family-friendly, immersive experience will leave you inspired as the Choir performs your favorite hymns with African cultural sounds in their new program Just as I Am.

The energy and the joy that those kids have is amazing! Visiting with the adults at the concert and seeing all the things they had made was really fun too.
— Vicki

Hosting the children was such a sweet experience. We hosted 3 boys a few years ago. They had great manners, and were so excited about anything we had to share with them! They were so sweet!

Who is the African Children’s Choir?

The first Choir performed in 1984; since then, 50 choirs have toured, acting as ambassadors for Africa’s most vulnerable children. Music for Life, the official fundraising charity for the Choir, has educated over 52,000 children and hundreds of thousands of lives have been impacted by their international relief and development programs.

The music was terrific, the children were energetic, so much fun from start to finish!
— Adam

WHAT IS THEIR CONCERT LIKE?

The children melt the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles, beautiful voices, and lively African songs and dances. The program features well-loved songs, Gospel spirituals, and contemporary favorites. Nearly every performance is concluded with a thunderous standing ovation. In spite of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are radiant with hope, musically gifted, and wonderfully entertaining.

WHY DO THEY TOUR?

The children come from places of extreme poverty, often slum homes. These places become their reality and tour gives them an opportunity to open their mind to new possibilities. During the tour, the children stay with host families, visit monumental locations, and study. The tour experience is invaluable to help them go home and envision change. Once Choir members have completed a concert tour, they will return back to their homeland with the tools necessary for bettering their future and through our sponsorship program, they receive a high-quality education all the way through university.

On March 5th they will be coming to DSUMC to perform. It’s your chance to be part of their inspirational story!
