Compelled By Love

As we continue our series, The Redeemed Community, we turn our attention this week to Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. We spoke last week about rearranging our lives around the new wisdom that is found in Jesus Christ. We were reminded that though the world considers a crucified and humiliated redeemer to be an affront to their sense of wisdom, Jesus is in fact true wisdom. The foolishness of God means redemption for you and I. Because of this, we don’t rely on our wisdom, but on the wisdom of God.

This week, we will be looking at 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. Paul is describing the impetus for his ministry and proclamation of the gospel. In his description in chapter 5, Paul shares that he is driven not by ambition or fame, but love. Paul’s love of the Lord Jesus, and his recognition of Jesus’ love for him creates a deep love for people. As disciples and members of the redeemed community (the Church), our motivation, our drive, is the love of God given to us through Jesus our Lord.

I hope you will join us in worship this coming Sunday as we explore the value of love within the redeemed community.

Grace & Peace,

Rev. Adam Thornton
