Our Mission's ministry reminds the congregation of the world-wide nature of the gospel and encourages specific mission concerns. It ensures that our church extends Christian compassion and helpfulness to those in need.

Please take an extra moment to read our Mission statement prior to browsing the current M.O.S.T. program project needs.
Our Mission: It is the mission of Dripping Springs United Methodist Church to go into the community and create disciples for our Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve our congregation and our community in His name.
DSUMC has a group of trained volunteers who are certified for UMCOR Early Response Teams. The mission of an Early Response Team, as defined by UMCOR, is “to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster.”
The most recent ERT trip was to help with flood cleanup in Nashville, TN. Flood waters rose up to 31 feet within 20 minutes in some areas. Our team packed up people's belongings for moves to temporary housing, moved boxes and furniture to storage, sprayed under houses and inspected the crawl spaces, removed ceilings and gave emotional and spiritual support.

Manna Food Ministry
Mission Statement: To enrich the value of people’s lives by providing a food program that will give quality physical food for less money while planting seeds of spiritual food in their hearts.
Manna Ministry was birthed from a desire to see churches have the means to minister to the community’s physical needs, while opening the door to plant the seed of God’s Word in the hearts of individuals needing Christ’s love.
Manna Ministry is set up in such a way that it also serves as a blessing to the participating churches. Besides the natural order of blessing that you receive when you help those in need, a donation of $1.00 per Manna box as well as $.50 per Bonus box is given to each church. This allows the church to help even more people in their community.
While this is a wonderful tool to be used to stretch our food dollar, it is a great ministry tool for reaching out to the community, be it low income or disabled individuals, single parents or senior citizens; hearts can be won over to the Kingdom through this simple yet very much needed resource.
Manna Food Boxes are not limited by income restrictions. It is available to anyone who wishes to stretch their food dollar. The food is ordered at the beginning of each month, and available for pick-up on the last Saturday of the month (dates vary in November & December due to the holidays).
Manna is always looking for individuals to sponsor a needy family as well as volunteers for distribution day, the last Saturday of the month. What wonderful opportunities to give, pray for, and witness to your neighbors here in Dripping Springs!
It is at this time of year that we usually reflect on the many blessings God has given us during the past year and consider how we will “give back”. I would like to tell you about a new mission’s opportunity.
We are embarking on creating a new weekend Christian camp for the boys at the Burke Center for Youth. This camp will be patterned after the Walk to Emmaus and Kairos movement and will be held at the HEB Foundation Camp in Leakey Texas May 15-17th. We feel that exposing these young men to the message of forgiveness and wholeness in Christ will have a major impact on their healing, and ultimately help them to realize that God loves them and has a plan for their life.
The weekend will be structured much like an Emmaus weekend. We will have a few talks, Christian music, campfires, hiking canoeing and team building games and relays.
The Mission of Camp Break Away is to help stop their cycle of abuse by:
• Sharing the message of God’s love, grace and forgiveness
• Showing the unconditional love and saving power of Jesus Christ
• Teaching that all lives are worthwhile and have purpose because of God’s endless love
Most of these boys have never had a Christian man with morals and values in their lives. They do not know what a normal family looks like and acts like. They have watched their parents lie, steal, break the law, use drugs, and have sex openly. In their home anger is expressed through hitting and destroying property. They are used to rejection, disappointment, abandonment physical and sexual abuse. We feel that by exposing them to God’s message of forgiveness and partnering with you to build positive Christian relationships, we can change their heart and ultimately their lives.

Mexico Mission Trip
We team up with volunteer groups from several area churches to build one-room homes for very poor families in the colonias of Nuevo Progreso. Our volunteers are all blessed by the opportunity to substantially improve living conditions for Mexican families. This is an excellent opportunity for families’ (kids 10 and older recommended), friends, small groups, to actively participate in a mission project together, since there are opportunities for all to participate. No specific experience is necessary! This is also an excellent opportunity to get involved in mission work for those who may not have time for a longer trip. There is a nominal fee of $40 per person or $125 for family to cover food, transportation, and lodging expenses. If you would like to be part of this wonderful experience, please contact: Chuck Lemmond, 751-3053, cnlemmond@austin.rr.com.
Kairos Prison Ministry
DSUMC is involved with the Kairos Prison Ministry at two prisons. The first is the Hughes Unit in Gatesville, Texas. The Hughes Unit is a maximum-security men’s unit. The second Kairos is the Lane Murray unit, also in Gatesville. The Lane Murray unit is a maximum-security women’s unit. This powerful ministry is very effective in bringing inmates to a closer relationship with Christ, building Christian community in the prison, and reducing recidivism. During the years that DSUMC has been involved with Kairos, we have seen a number of Sisters and Brothers in White turn away from their troubled past to become strong Christians and productive members of society upon their release.
You can be involved in this powerful ministry in a number of ways, including being a team member, prayer, financial support, helping bake cookies, making place mats and posters, writing letters of encouragement, and attending the closing ceremony. Please note that you must apply to attend a closing ceremony several weeks before the Kairos Weekend. Applications are available at the Kairos table in the Fellowship Hall. Closing ceremonies are a powerful worship experience for all who attend. They are held Sunday afternoon, the last day of a Kairos Weekend.
