CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
SUNDAYS AT 9:30am

Summer Sunday School Schedule (June 4th-August 27th)
Children’s Sunday School (3yrs-4th Grade) in the Education Wing
Club 56″ (5th & 6th Grade) will also meet the Education Wing for Kids Honor Club
Nursery Care is also available for ages 0-4 during all worship services

Please bring your children to the Education Wing to check in and join their assigned group by 9:30 AM. We are currently using a rotational model where the children will move in groups through various “stations”. There will be games, singing, dancing, a scripture lesson and prayer opportunities. Please pick up in the gym by 11am.

This Summer your child is invited to join us for Kids Honor Club! During these 13 fun-filled sessions children will learn what honor is through a fishing expedition, how to deal with selfishness through a construction site, how to address their own anger and then go one step further by becoming peacemakers. The activities will challenge children to think of ways to add energy to family life instead of draining it. There’s also a class for parents that goes right along with what the children are learning so you can grow as a family together! Click here for more info on the parenting class!

MYTHS VS. FACTS ABOUT SERVING IN OUR CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

MYTH:
You have to be a Bible Scholar to help with Sunday School or WOW kids…or at least know a lot about the
Bible.
FACT: Whether you are new to the church or have grown up learning the Bible, there’s a place for you! In fact, many parents enjoy learning alongside their kids!

MYTH: If I volunteer I have to make a long-term commitment to being there every Sunday morning or Wednesday night
FACT:
We are currently using a rotational model for Sunday school, so if you can’t be there every week, that’s ok! Same goes for WOW kids, we have a group of parents that rotates helping each Wednesday night so that most parents serve just once/month. Whether you can help out regularly or just every once in awhile, we have a place for you!

MYTH: I have to do a lot of prep work to get ready to teach Sunday school or help with WOW kids and have to come up with all the lessons, crafts, and activities on my own.
FACT: We have activities and lessons already planned! We just need facilitators and guides to help children in these ministries.

MYTH: The only way I can serve in children’s ministry is by leading something or teaching a group of kids.
FACT: We have MANY ways individuals can serve in children’s ministry. Whether you enjoy teaching, leading games & activities, doing administrative work, or more of the behind the scenes prep work, there are plenty of opportunities to use your unique gifts to serve the children at DSUMC.

CLUB 56 (5TH & 6TH GRADE – MEETS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR)
Club 56 is our midweek Bible Study & Small Group opportunity for 5th & 6th graders. All 5th & 6th graders are invited to come, have fun, make friends and grow in their relationship with the Lord each week on Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the Foundry. We also have a special Sunday School class just for our 5th & 6th graders at 9:45am in the Foundry. Hope to see you there!

*NOTE: During the summer 5th & 6th graders will be joining us for “Kids Honor Club” at 9:30am on Sundays in the Education Wing. There is also no Club 56 on Wednesday nights during the summer. Instead, your entire family is invited to join us for Summer Family Fun Nights!

NURSERY (0-4yrs)
The Nursery is available for many activities, including all church services, Wednesday night Bible Studies/classes, and other activities/classes throughout the week. We generally have a mix of free play and guided play in the nursery, free play on the playground and usually a snack time, if available.

The mission of our nursery is to prepare children to become disciples of Jesus Christ through nurturing care from trusted, Christian adults, socialization with fellow children of God, and instruction in our Sunday School classes.

We fully encourage family worship. However, if your child is not quite ready for church worship, they are welcome in the nursery. A good way to begin the integration of family worship is to start by having them attend the songs and children’s time. Then, bring them into the nursery. This will get them used to church time and the church/worship atmosphere.

PLEASE NOTE: All scheduled events, groups, meetings, Bible Studies, etc… needing child care need to be arranged at least TWO WEEKS in advance to ensure enough child care is provided. Click HERE for a Child Care reservation request form. For questions or comments, email Cheri Heldstab.
